On Friday, March 20, the fourth seminar of the Geography and Gender Research Group of this academic year will take place.

Returning to the Countryside from the Geography of Sexualities: Youth and Attachment in the Catalan Rural World

Led by Laura Soler, PhD candidate of the Geography and Gender Research Group.

The session will present research conducted as part of her doctoral thesis, focused on the trajectories of sexual and/or gender dissident youth in Catalan rural areas and how they develop a sense of attachment and belonging. Using a qualitative, intersectional, and geographic approach based on in-depth interviews with adult LBT youth who have left the city to settle in various rural counties of Catalonia, the seminar will reflect on how sexual and gender dissidence influences ways of inhabiting the territory, participating in community life, and generating agency and resistance strategies in rural contexts.

The activity is linked to the Doctoral Programs in Geography and the Doctoral Program in Gender Studies: Cultures, Societies and Politics.
