Seminar "VIVIENDA SOCIAL Y SEGREGACIÓN RESIDENCIAL: Contrastes entre Chile y Países Bajos"
Event details
- Beginning: 10 June 2025
- 15:00
- Room DAG Department of Geography

Next Tuesday, June 10, will take place the seminar of the Research Group on Energy, Territory and Society: "Social Housing and Residential Segregation: Contrasts between Chile and the Netherlands". Marisol Brito Doerr (Predoctoral Researcher at UAB) and Javier San Millán Tejedor (Predoctoral Researcher at TU Delft) will participate in the seminar.
This seminar aims to explore and compare the dynamics of urban segregation generated by social housing policies in very different geographical and socioeconomic contexts: The Netherlands and Chile. It will confront two housing models characterized, on the one hand, by a high coverage of social housing and policies of relative integration and, on the other hand, by a concentration of public housing in certain peripheral areas that has intensified the spatial concentration of poverty in large cities. Through this comparative geographical analysis, it will be investigated how social housing can produce opposite effects in the fragmentation/cohesion of the city depending on its quantity, location and access profile.
The activity is linked to PhD in Geography program.
