Creation of a Coexistence Committee at the UAB
To ensure that coexistence conflicts that may occur between members of the university community are resolved through alternative means of conflict resolution, the UAB Coexistence Committee was set up (by the Rules of coexistence of the UAB).
The committee is made up of three representatives of the teaching and research staff, three representatives of the technical staff and management of administration and services and three representatives of the students (see composition), and its primary functions are:
- Channel the initiatives and proposals to improve coexistence at the University and formulate proposals in this area.
- Promote the use of the mediation mechanism to try to provide answers that may arise due to violations of the Coexistence Rules (approved by agreement of the Governing Council of March 16, 2023)
- Propose the body or person responsible for mediation to the parties to a cohabitation conflict, who must explicitly accept it.
- Process the mediation procedure as an alternative to the sanctioning regime for students by the powers of the Commission.
For the university community to become familiar with this conflict mediation instrument and the publications on the web and the virtual campus, an infographic has been prepared: https://www.uab.cat/doc/infografia-comissio-convivencia. I ask you to publish it on your websites. A communication plan has also been drawn up.
Requests for mediation, complaints, and denunciations that are part of the Commission's scope of action can be sent via comissio.convivencia@uab.cat or any other means permitted by law.
