Specific information on this faculty
In the following links you will find the information of each of our degrees. Browsing you will also find the list of subjects and their description:
Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology
It is not possible to apply for the External Work Placement subject in either of the two degrees, which in the case of the Degree in Food Science and Technology is called Practicum.
It is also not possible to apply, due to legal impediments for international students, the subjects of the Veterinary Degree: Laboratory Animal Science, and Design of Experiments and Research Projects. The Veterinary Hospital Rotation subject is very restricted due to very few places.
In any case, a place is not guaranteed in the rest of the subjects, it will depend on the number of applications.
To facilitate adaptation to a different university and language, it is recommended not to exceed 24 credits per semester or 48 per full year.
Because almost all subjects have a high percentage of practices and are carried out in smaller groups, the schedules are complex to understand. In addition, they are subject to change until shortly before the start of the course. We'll explain them to you when you arrive.
Languages
We recommend a minimum level of B1 in Spanish, although we do not require proof of language level, we leave it up to you.
At the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the official languages are Catalan and Spanish. Everyone uses one or the other language according to their preference so that, naturally, it happens that the teacher chooses the language in which he gives the class and the materials, and the student chooses the language in which he asks his questions, consultations, exams and assignments. Although there are marked subjects whose language is Catalan, this is not exclusive and students interact and respond in either of the two languages. This is not the case in subjects marked with English as a language, in this case it is exclusive and both teacher and student must use English both in expression, materials, exams and assignments. In the Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology there is no subject in English.
In the case of the Veterinary Degree:Taught entirely in English
Taught partially in English
- Equine Medicine and Surgery
- Neurology
- Domestic Animal Medicine and Surgery I
- Veterinary Hospital Rotation
In the rest of the subjects of the two degrees, some teachers admit the exam in English if it is requested in advance.
In case it may be useful, incoming students can request subjects from other courses at our university as long as they do not account for more than 50% of the credits. That is, at least 50% of the credits must be from degree courses at our faculty. Some of our faculties teach degrees, or parts of them, in English.
The UAB Languages Service offers free Catalan courses or Spanish courses at a reduced price. Check with your university for the possibility of recognition as a subject and you could include it in your Academic Agreement.
Once your application has been accepted, you must send us the Learning Agrement signed by you and your University by email. Although the UAB is connected to Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) we cannot yet receive Learning Agrements Online, so we must receive them in PDF by email. The deadlines are:
- First semester or full year: June 20
- Second semester: January 10
A place is not guaranteed in all subjects. During the following 30 days, you will be informed of the accepted subjects and possible changes of subjects.
The start of classes is:
- First semester (Autumn): 08/09/2025
- Second semester (Spring): 09/02/2026
Before starting classes you must register your official start at the university, so during the week before you must come to the Academic Management of this faculty. You must make an appointment.
