Communication

Collection composition

The Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives is the library of the UAB hosting the collection specialised  in communication and related subjects: journalism, mass media (press, radio, television), advertising and public relations, marketing, film and photography. It also has collections of reference works and of library science, documentation and archives. Because of its function as a general library of the UAB, it receives the publications of the UAB Publication Service, as well as all the doctoral theses read at the university, and hosts the section of the antique documents collection, called Reserve.

We recommend the use of the Search engine to locate documents. Most of the collections are publicly accessible  and can be consulted in the reading rooms of floors 2, 3 and 4 of the Library. However, for reasons of space and conservation, a part of the collections is kept in store rooms: if you need to access any document from storage, you can request it through the catalogue.

Books: almost 100,000 volumes, ordered according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC).

Press: more than 10,000 series of general information newspapers and magazines, local and regional press and supplements. In paper, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and microform format.

Journals specialised in journalism, audiovisual communication, advertising and cinema.

Sound, audiovisual, graphic and computer material: an important collection of sound effects and an extensive section of films, television series and documentaries on DVD.

Local UAB collection: books, magazines and bulletins published by the UAB Publication Service.
