Wannajob is a marketplace-style application for smartphones and tablets which allows users needing help with small jobs – moving house services, babysitting, walking the dog, etc. – come into contact with people interested in helping out and earning money at the same time. All participants in the competition were given two months to develop a prototype and draft a business model. In this particular case, the activity will begin with a pilot programme in Barcelona's Gràcia neighbourhood.

The creators and promoters of Wannajob are Josu Rubio, a master's degree student in Computer Engineering at the UAB; Pablo García and Gorka Unda. The prize includes 600 euros that will go towards improving the prototype and access to the Yuzz Programme for young entrepreneurs, in addition to the initial support received from the UAB Emprèn Programme.

The projects which participated in the Start-up Lab UAB submitted their ideas at a pitch session as part of the #MEMEnginy16, a yearly meeting held at the UAB School of Engineering. The event began with a short speech on disruptive innovation by Xavier Verdaguer, internationally renowned entrepreneur and member of the jury. Apart from electing Wannajob the best idea, the jury also had a special mention for the project Lumpoint and it also highlighted the high level of all participants.

The Start-up Lab UAB aims to help students accelerate in their ICT entrepreneurship projects and is organised by the UAB Emprèn Programme, the School of Engineering and the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies.
