UAB runner-up in 13th edition of University Debating League!
28/04/2017
The 13th edition of the University Debating League under the Xarxa Vives network of Catalan Universities has come to an end. During the League, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra became the epicentre of the debates. There, many teams competed in representation of their university. The UAB team, Anna Vilà, Edward Bernal and Gorka Samaniego, made it to the finals and finished as runners-up. Anna Vilà is a Law student, and Edward Bernal and Gorka Samaniego are Law and Political Science students.
"Should governments have control over the media?" was the subject of this year’s Debating League. A total of fourteen teams competed at the finals in two groups of seven teams. Each team had to compete against four other teams. Four best teams went on to the semi-finals. After that, the two teams with highest scores, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, competed against each other at the finals. The URV was the winner of the League.
We would like to thank Anna, Edward and Gorka for having worked so hard to represent our University. Congratulations guys, you did a great job! Find out more about this year’s Debating League at the Xarxa Vives’ Flickr page.
