UAB ranks eighth worldwide according in SIR IBER 2015

The ranking lists UAB as second among Spanish universities and eighth in the international ranking of Spanish, Portuguese and Ibero-American universities.

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with a total of 17,758 publications and an index of standardised impact (world average is 1) of 1.50 between 2009 and 2013, takes up eighth place in the international SIR IBER 2015 ranking. The UAB is second among Spanish universities, behind the University of Barcelona with 21,441 publications and an index of standardised impact of 1.56. 

The ranking take into consideration articles, reviews and letters published in journals by universities in Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Ibero-American countries according to data collected by the SCImago Research Group.

The analysis includes 1,753 higher education institutions of Latin America, Spain and Portugal, with the main source of information being Scopus, the world's largest database of research literature. It takes into account the percentage of scientific production published in collaboration with institutions from abroad; the factor of standardised impact in relation to the world's average; journals belonging to the first quartile; the degree of specialisation of the institution; the percentage of scientific production included in the group of the most cited works in each field; as well as the number of works published in which the leading author belongs to the institution, in total and among the 10% most cited works of that field.
