The UAB welcomes a delegation from the Linnaeus University, Sweden

The Linnaeus University, created in 2010 after the fusion of two Swedish universities, visited the UAB on 26 March to learn about the activities and facilities on campus and exchange views on common educational and research projects.

On 26 March, the UAB received a delegation from the Linnaeus University, a young institution located in the southeast of Sweden, interested in exchanging opinions on European projects in education, research and teaching innovation.

The institutional delegation was formed by the rector of the university, Stephan Hwang, and several members of the university's governing bodies and deans. They were greeted by a UAB delegation headed by Rector Ferran Sancho and visited the ICTA-ICP and the Eureka Building with the aim learning about the research and social and technological transfer activities carried out at the UAB.

The Linnaeus University was created in 2010 as the result of the fusion of Kalmar and Växjö universities. It was given the name of Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778), considered to be the founder of modern taxonomy and most well-known Swedish scientist of the past centuries. The university has over 35,000 undergraduate students, a strong international profile and many strong ties to the nearby industries.

The UAB has student exchange agreements with Linnaeus University and with twelve other universities in Sweden. Moreover, the UAB and several Swedish universities currently are participating in 31 common European research projects and in the 2013/14 academic year, five professors and researchers from Sweden came to spend a stay at the UAB.
