The UAB rises six points in the GreenMetric World Ranking

The University occupies 14th place worldwide among the 516 universities studied and ranks first in Spain. The University of Indonesia ranking compares policies on sustainability and respect for the environment.

The University of Indonesia (UI) has published the seventh edition of its GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities. The ranking compares universities' policies on sustainability and respect for the environment.
 
In the past four years the UAB has moved up from 126th place overall, where it stood in 2013, to 44th in 2014, 20th in 2015 and 14th place in this edition, which corresponds to 2016. This has taken it to first place among Spanish universities, followed by the University of Alcalà (in 26th place worldwide) and the University of Valencia (28th).
 
The ranking has six categories, with the weight of each category in parenthesis: energy and climate change (21%), waste management (18%), transport (18%), infrastructure (15%), water usage (10%) and education (18%). Of these categories, the UAB stands out particularly in waste management (11th place) and energy and climate change (23rd place).
 
This year's edition included 516 universities in 74 countries, up from 407 universities in 62 countries which participated in the previous edition. The University of California, Davis, in the US ranks first in this edition, followed by the University of Nottingham, UK, and the Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands.
