The new Association of East Asian Studies to be presented at Casa Àsia

Specialists of the UAB and other academic institutions have worked on the creation of the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies, which will foster the research and dissemination of knowledge on the societies and cultures of countries such as China, Japan and Korea.

On 15 March, Casa Asia in Barcelona will play host to the presentation event of the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies (AEEAO), which will be presided by Sara Rovira, lecturer of the UAB Department of Translation and Interpreting & East Asian Studies. The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. and apart from Rovira, speakers will include UAB lecturers Helena Casas and Blai Guarné, and UAB lecturer Anna Busquets.

The objective of the new association is to foster the study and research in Spain on societies and cultures of East Asia (principally China, Japan and Korea), as well as disseminate knowledge in this area among Spanish society. It will work on the organisation of research initiatives and activities and meetings, such as the Spanish Forum on Pacific Asian Research (FEIAP), whose next edition will take place in Malaga in 2018. The association also aims to prepare specialised publications and audiovisual materials on East Asia.

This will be the association's first presentation and more will follow in Madrid (26 April), Granada, Malaga and Seville. The association is very active on social networks such as Twitter (@esAsiaOriental) and Facebook (esAsiaOriental).
