The Association of Biologists of Catalonia awards Jordina Belmonte

ICTA-UAB researcher Jordina Belmonte received an award by the Association of Biologists of Catalonia in the category “Research” as part of the celebration of “Day of the Biologist”, which took place on April 25, 2018 in Barcelona.

The current board of the Association of Biologists of Catalonia decided to promote April 25 as the "Day of the Biologist" in memory of the date when James Watson and Francis Crick published the structure of DNA in 1953, and with the aim of bestowing prestige on the profession of biologists and increasing social recognition.

During the "Day of the Biologist" several awards were presented in recognition of professional trajectories of great value and also as a way of bestowing prestige on member professionals and companies. Five categories have been established: “Honorary Member”, “Professional Trajectory”, “Research”, “Bioentrepreneurs” and “Senior Member”.

In its second edition, the jury decided to recognize Jordina Belmonte in the “Research" category for having contributed to increasing the prestige of the profession through her scientific merits and rendered service to the profession of biologists and biology.
