Successful participation in the 6th edition of the national tournament of the Argumentation and Debate Group
The sixth edition of the UAB's Argumentation and Debate Group Tournament included the participation of 64 debaters from many Spanish-speaking countries. This is the largest debate tournament in British parliamentary format to take place in Catalonia.
The Argumentation and Debate Group of the UAB Faculty of Law organised from 19 to 21 April the sixth edition of the GAD-UAB British Parliamentary Debate Tournament. More than 30 teams from 13 universities came to UAB to enjoy a competitive and multitudinous tournament with the largest number of judges in the circuit.
The conference counted with the participation of academic teams formed by national and world champions with experience and expertise in debate, as is the case of the adjudication member of the University of Oxford.
The champion team of the tournament was BDS SK, from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and the novice champion team was CEU MB, from CEU San Pablo de Madrid. In addition, participants Luis Felipe García, from ADUB, and Agustín Saya, from BDS, were respectively named best speaker and best new speaker.
As for the participation of the UAB in the tournament, the GAD-ADUB GB team reached the novice final and the GAD-ADUB PM team, led by Judit Postigo, reached the semifinal. Mado Sáez participated in the adjudication team, Horacio Lamela and Arnau Rufs in the equity team, and Roc Grandia i Mazcuñán and Malak Benchafii in the tabulation team.
The tournament was organised by Argumentation and Debate Group Board members Elena Núñez Jaime, Andreu Garcia, Héctor Salgado, Xenia Porterias and José María Sáez.
