Services at the UAB campus in August
The services available at the UAB will have different opening hours during the month of August. Health assistance services, the information point, libraries and study halls, the Graduate School, and the Physical Activity Service will remain open.
During the month of August, UAB campus services will have special opening hours and some will close for a short period.
The UAB security services will be working 24 hours a day, every day, and can be reached at 93 581 25 25. The health assistance services will be open Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (93 581 13 11). In case of an emergency outside these hours, please contact the campus security services.
The UAB Information Service on the Plaça Cívica will be open from 1 to 11 August and from 21 to 31 August. Its opening hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday (93 581 11 11, email@example.com). The International Welcome Point will be open from 1 to 4 and from 28 to 31 August, from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (93 581 22 10, firstname.lastname@example.org). With regard to teaching centres, the Logistical Services and Information Point of each centre will have different timetables. There will be no internal mail service on the Bellaterra campus.
The Computer Services User Support Unit will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from 1 to 25 August, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 28 to 31 August (93 581 581 00, email@example.com). The IT support units of each centre will also have different timetables.
The Graduate School will be open all month from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, except for 14 August (93 581 24 91, 93 581 42 13, firstname.lastname@example.org). And the General Register Office, in the Rectorat building, will be open all of August from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (email@example.com).
The Research Management Area will be open all month, Mondays to Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (93 581 37 32, firstname.lastname@example.org).
The internal bus service will not be operative during August. For information on reaching the campus with alternative means of transport, please consult the website www.uab.cat/accessibilitat-transports.
Libraries and Study Halls
All libraries on campus will be closed from 7 to 27 August. From 1 to 4 August, the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives and the Humanities Library will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The week of 28 to 31 August, all libraries will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (with the exception of the European Documentation Centre and the Josep Laporte Library, which will remained closed). The library located at the Sabadell campus will be closed from 1 to 27 August; from 28 to 31 August it will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The study halls and Journals building of the Humanities Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from 1 to 27 August. And the study hall at the Social Sciences Library will be open from 7 a.m. to midnight, from 28 to 31 August. For those needing photocopies, all machines will be functioning and the copy store at the Plaça Cívica will be open on workdays (except for 14 August) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Another service that will be open all month is the Physical Activity Service (SAF), Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The only restaurants open will be the café located at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the café at the Hotel Campus (Mondays to Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 12 midnight; Sundays, 9 a.m to 12 midnight).
The UAB will celebrate its 9th Health and Sustainability Week from 16 to 20 April: over 50 activities (workshops, conferences, races, sports, and many more) open to all members of the university community with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle.
