Protection of heritage to be the focus of the International Urban Law Congress

Specialists in administrative law and other fields will participate in the International Urban Law Congress which will take place on 22 and 23 September at the UAB Casa Convalescència. The meeting will focus on legal aspects in the protection of tangible and intangible heritage.

On 22 and 23 September, the UAB Casa Convalescència will play host to the 11th International Urban Law Congress, organised by the UAB Enric Prat de la Riba Chair. This year's congress is entitled "Architectural Heritage, Sites & Landscapes Seized by Urban Law" and will include the participation of the main specialists in administrative law. It will talk about heritage protection tools and techniques in Spain and in other countries. Specifically, aspects of local and regional planning in the preservation of cultural heritage will be analysed.

The congress will be divided into different thematic blocks: protected heritage, actors involved in this protection, tools for the protection, improvement and promotion of heritage, and the funds and taxes of the mechanisms related to heritage protection. There will also be three debates on specific cases from different European countires, the EU and the USA.

With regard to the opening and final session, the congress will begin on 22 at 9:30 a.m. with an introduction by David Renders, professor of administrative law of the Université catholique de Louvain; and on 23 September at 9:50 a.m. Jacqueline Morand Delliver, professora of administrative law at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, will give the general conclusions of the congress.

The meeting will also include the general assembly of the International Association of Urbanistic Law (AIDRU) and the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Revista de Derecho Urbanístico y Medio Ambiente.
