New call for research grants in Latin America

Once again, Santander Universidades offers the possibility of obtaining a financial aid to spend a minimum of two months in a research centre or university in Latin America. Applications can be submitted until 2 March 2015 through the Santander Universidades website.

Santander Universidades offers 225 research grants for lecturing and research staff and for PhD students, interested in working in research centres or universities of Latin America.

A total of 200 grants will be offered to lecturing and research staff. Each grant includes 5,000 euros and a minimum stay of two months. In the case of PhD students, 25 grants will be offered for the amount of 10,000 euros each and with a minimum stay of four months. In all cases, the research stays must end at the latest on 30 June 2016, and the countries participating this year are: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

To apply, candidates must be researchers or PhD students in one of the universities with a collaboration agreement with Banco Santander. Applications must be submitted through the Banco Santander website: http://www.becas-santander.com. Among the documents applicants will be required to attach are their Curriculum Vitae, a summary of the project and an acceptance letter from the university in which they are interested in spending their research stay. Priority will be given to candidates under 35 years of age.

This is the fifth edition of the programme "Becas Iberoamérica Jóvenes Profesores e Investigadores y Alumnos de Doctorado. Santander Universidades", created during the second international meeting among Universia rectors held in Mexico in 2010. The objective of the programme is to help researchers update their knowledge and skills, further train PhD students and establish academic ties between Ibero-American institutions.
