Thomson Reuters recently presented its 2015 edition (data from 2014) of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), the most prestigious journal index which includes publications from 82 different countries.

The journals Enseñanza de las Ciencias and Publicacions Matemàtiques, published by the UAB, and the journals SORT-Statistics and Operations Research TransactionsRevista de Psicología del Deporte and Dynamis, in which the UAB participates as co-publisher, are included in this year's edition.

The current edition includes a total of 11,022 journals, of which 8,618 correspond to Science and 3,143 correspond to Social Sciences (739 journals are indexed in all two editions). Moreover, 247 journals appear in the JCR for the first time. It is worth highlighting that index indicators characterise the journal, but not the quality or the impact of each paper published.

A total of 44 journals belonging to Catalan-speaking and cultural regions have been indexed this year (0.4% of the total journals indexed worldwide). With regard to distribution by quartiles, no Catalan or Valencian journal enters the top quartile, while 8 are included among the second quartile (18.2%), 14 in the third (31.8%) and 22 in the fourth (50%). Twelve of the publications (27.3%) are open access journals.
