"It is a good way to get involved in the education community. Only through participation you will eventually be able to change those aspects of society that you don’t like"

How you would define the University Senate?

It is a space for debate where different points of view meet even though sometimes they are opposed or impossible to agree on. By participating in the Senate you will learn about the listening, negotiating and tolerating ability of the UAB’s central administration and executive offices. Also in time, if you have a critical spirit, you will form your own judgments, your own opinion about things.

Why did you stand as a candidate for the University Senate? (For ideological reasons, recommendation of a classmate, etc.)

Because I think it is a good way to get involved in the education community. Only through participation will you eventually be able to change those aspects of society that you don’t like.

Why did you stand as a candidate for the University Senate as part of a group?

To me, the saying “United we stand” is absolutely true. I was lucky enough to work with people from my faculty who were as involved as I was. We thought that if we joined forces we could have the chance to achieve greater results, and the same thing happened at university level with the Acció UAB candidacy.

Can you tell us about any proposals or actions carried out by your group?

We worked on the promotion of the dual degree programme; we worked on a project for reviewing the rules of continuation of studies in order to include long-term sick students; also we proposed the extension of the Finestra grants fund, etc. In short, we tried to make life easier for the UAB students and fight for our rights.

What would you say to encourage those who are thinking about joining the University Senate?

It is a chance for us, the students, to get involved in the activities and events of our university and to make our voice heard.
