During the UAB Festa Major Ganàpies will do a special performance at the Plaça Cívica together with the Arreplegats de la Zona Universitària group

The group Ganàpies de la UAB, the first colla castellera to form at the university, celebrates its 20th anniversary this academic year with a series of activities programmed throughout the year. The first event will take place on 16 October, when a commemorative mural will be unveiled on the south side of the Participation Building (opposite the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology) with the motto “20 anys Ganàpies, 20 anys blaus” (“20 years Ganàpies, 20 years blue”).

The highest point of the anniversary events will take place during the UAB Festa Major on 6 November. As happens every year, Ganàpies will perform right in the middle of the Plaça Cívica. However this year, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, they will build the human towers together with the Arreplegats de la Zona Universitària group, the colla castellera composed of university students from Barcelona. Furthermore, Ganàpies will also have a stand in the Rambla Nord.

During the academic year a series of events to celebrate the 20 years of castellers will take place. Among them, there will be a camp during the first months of the year to bring together everybody who have been part of the Ganàpies group throughout all these years. A special diada in the spring, a series of talks and audiovisual projections to explain the history of the colla and the creation of their own kerchiefs and t-shirts are some of the activities planned for the coming months.

Apart from the commemorative events, Ganàpies will continue practising on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 3 pm on the grass of the Faculty of Science.
