CYD ranking highlights UAB achievement

The CYD Foundation's ranking includes a total of 32 indicators in five areas: teaching and learning, knowledge transfer, international orientation and contribution to regional development.

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona stands out in the field of research, with a high achievement in 7 out of 10 indicators (external funding, publications per lecturer, normalised impact, highly cited publications, postdoctoral researchers, average number of research active years and tenured lecturers without research active years); in knowledge transfer, with a high achievement in 5 out of 8 indicators (publications in private enterprises, income per licence, spin-offs, cited patent publications and income for continuous training); in international orientation, with a high achievement in 4 out of 6 indicators (master's degrees in foreign languages, international lecturers, international PhD theses and international publications), and in contribution to regional development, with a high achievement in 2 out of 3 indicators (work placements in surrounding businesses and regional publications).

This is the third edition of this ranking coordinated by Martí Parellada, professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at the University of Barcelona. The ranking is based on the U-Multirank created by the European Commission. It includes 66 universities from all of the Spanish autonomous communities. The ranking analyses 13 areas of knowledge and 948 degrees, and it presents 32 indicators for each centres as well as 34 achievement indicators in six areas of knowledge analysed in this year's edition: biology, chemistry, mathematics, history, sociology and social work.
