The Computer Vision Centre has created an electric car prepared to be independently driven. A computer installed in the boot of the car acts as the driver, perceiving its environment based on computer vision techniques.

The car was developed by the research group ADAS (Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems) of the Catalan research centre CVC (a centre affiliated to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), with the support of the CERCA Institution belonging to the Government of Catalonia, the participation of the ASCAMM Advanced Technology Centre (now part of the recently created EURECAT), and the collaboration of the companies ENISOLA and Tecnoferraris.

The car was prepared following all safety measures in the experiments by using simulation environments for its testing, tuning and demonstrations, and on 25 April it was put to the test in from of pedestrians at the NOVUM 2015 science and technology fair.

On Thursday 14 May the director of the research group ADAS, Dr Antonio López, will present the car at the International Motor Show in Barcelona. At 5:30 pm, Dr López will offer a conference entitled "ACDC: Automated and Cooperative Driving in the City" as part of the 8th Technical Symposium on Intelligent Vehicles, organised by the Sociedad de Técnicos de Automoción (STA). The event will include the presence of companies and organisations from the sector, participants of the Professional Activities and Workshops' sector.
