Anna Laromaine receives L'Oréal-Unesco grant

The ICMAB researcher and lecturer of the UAB master's degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology will receive 15,000 Euros to research nanomaterials for biomedical applications.

Researcher at the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) Anna Laromaine received one of the five grants offered by the L’Oréal-Unesco For Women in Science programme. The grant consists in 15,000 Euros which the scientist will use to fund a research project seeking to optimise the physical-chemical properties of nanomaterials with the aim of applying them to the field of biomedicine.
The jury, which included well-known scientists such as Bernat Soria and Maria Blasco, awarded the programme's five grants to give visibility to women in science and help boost their research projects.

Dr Laromaine is chemist and spent six years in post-doctoral research stays in various international centres such as Imperial College de Londres, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. She works at the ICMAB and combines research on materials science, chemistry and biology to design nanomaterials which can be used for medical and cosmetic applications. She studies the interaction of nanoparticles with biological material.

Dr Anna Laromaine is in charge of several scientific dissemination activities and is lecturer of the UAB master's degree in Advanced Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
