The collaborative platform BiciZen, promoted by ICTA-UAB, has been awarded the Bicimpuls Award 2023 by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, which aims to recognize initiatives that promote the use of bicycles in the metropolis.

The BiciZen initiative was recognized in the category of Innovation or research project related to the bicycle. BiciZen is a collaborative platform based on citizen science that promotes the bikeability of cities through a mobile application. Through the app, cyclists share data on parking, safety, and infrastructure suggestions. It is a university project led by ICTA-UAB researcher Jordi Honey Rosés through the City Lab Barcelona research group.

As every year, the Bicimpuls Awards ceremony became a meeting point for organizations, cyclists and AMB staff who are working together to promote cycling in the city of Barcelona. During the event, the winning projects of this 6th edition of Bicimpuls were announced in different categories. A total of five candidates received a prize of 3,000 euros each.
