Dr. Joan Martinez Alier will be offering the panel entitled "Between ecological economics and political ecology" on 27 and 28 October at the Universidad del Valle in Cali (Colombia), organized by the Doctorate in Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the Universidad del Valle.



Joan Martínez Alier holds a PhD in Economics and Economic History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). His research interests include Agrarian History, Environmental History, Ecological Economics, Environmental Policy and Political Ecology.



He was a research fellow at St Antony's College, Oxford, and a visiting professor at FLACSO, Ecuador. He is a founding member of European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, as well as of the International Society for Ecological Economics. Since 2000, he has been a member of the European Environment Agency's Scientific Committee. He has written several publications on political ecology and environmental conflicts.
