Reading group on Degrowth

For the seventh year running, the ICTA-UAB in collaboration with Research & Degrowth Barcelona (www.degrowth.org) will be holding a reading group on degrowth. They will meet once every three Mondays or so, to read, discuss, cook and drink together in one of the member’s houses in Barcelona.

This year's reading group will be dedicated to recent works published by their group here in Barcelona, plus the work of a few selected guests. They will count with Dan O'Neill and Juliet Schor this December. Each reading group will consist of two journal papers or book chapters that attendants have to read in advance.

They are looking for participants who are committed to read the texts and attend several meetings, so that we get to know each other and develop a common language. The dates are 23/10, 13/11, 27/11, 18/12, 15/1, 5/2, 26/2, 19/3, 2/4, 30/4, 21/5.

To participate you will need to have a basic knowledge of what is degrowth and have already read some introductory material (such as some core papers, Serge Latouche, or the degrowth vocabulary - http://vocabulary.degrowth.org/). If you haven’t read about degrowth and want to know more, there is a parallel reading group on the classics that will be communicated soon.

The reading group is open to everyone, academic or not, undergraduates, masters, PhD or postdocs.

If you are interested, please email giorgoskallis@gmail.com. You will receive the program, together with links to all readings for next year.
