ICTA-UAB, in the Barcelona Science Festival
The Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) participated in the Barcelona Science Festival, which took place on 26 and 27 October at the Moll de la Fusta.

This was a great event about popular science and technology held by Barcelona Ciencia, and it brought together more than a hundred activities organised by research centres, universities, associations, facilities, popular science professionals and other organisations.
The activities brought all topics of scientific research within everyone's grasp and some of them did so within the framework of three famous personalities and events that have transformed society: the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, 150 years since Dmitri Mendeléiev published the periodic table of chemical elements and 50 years since mankind reached the Moon.
ICTA-UAB researchers from Sostenipra group organised several activities. On Saturday 26 October, at 18.15h in the Mendeléiev Lab they offered the workshop “Is it easy to recover the gold from the new technological products?” given by Laura Talens Peiró and Xavier Gabarrell. Throughout the weekend, they presented an exemple of Rooftop Urban Garden. Xavier Gabarrell, Verònica Arcas, Maria Rosa Rovira, Martí Rufí and Laura Talens from ICTA-UAB explained it to the visitors.
The ICTA-UAB researcher of the Planttes project Concepción De Linares tackled allergies, allergenic plants and pollens, on Sunday 27 October, at 11.30h.
This year the festival was for people of all ages, from young children under 6, boys and girls, to teenagers, families and adults with a new area of workshops and demonstrations for people aged 16 and up. Professionals from more than 150 organisations told about their research and discoveries through many different formats in which science and technology often come together with games, the visual arts and shows.
The Thirteenth Science festival increased its commitment to digital content and reducing the event's environmental impact.
