ICTA-UAB at the Smart City Expo World Congress
ICTA-UAB will be present at the world congress on smart cities, the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), which will take place at the Fira de Barcelona from 15 to 17 November.

The UAB will have its own stand where it will give visibility to the technological capabilities, knowledge and outstanding projects developed by research groups to improve the lives of citizens. ICTA-UAB will showcase its projects on bicycle mobility in European cities, urban agriculture and sustainable urban food systems.
ICTA-UAB's Bicizen project, led by Jordi Honey-Rosés, will be presented on Wednesday 16 November between 10 and 11.45am at the UAB stand. Honey Rosés and ICTA-UAB researcher Luca Liebscht will explain this project, which consists of the co-creation of a multiplatform citizen science app for European urban cyclists. The aim is to study the problems that cyclists face on a daily basis in different European regions, such as bicycle theft, extreme weather impediments or the quality of cycling infrastructure. In this way, it will seek solutions through citizen science. The project involves the collaboration of researchers from five European universities.
At 12 noon, ICTA-UAB researcher Ramiro González will show how it is possible to implement urban agriculture in cities through urban gardens, an easy-to-maintain system that contributes to promoting consumption of healthy and local products, food sovereignty in cities, the reduction of the impact of food production and transport, and air quality. At the stand, visitors will be able to see the prototype of a hydroponic garden for offices, developed by the Sostenipra research group and sold by the UAB spin-off Tectum, whose objective is to transform working spaces into renaturalised spaces.
At 16:30, Xavier Gabarrell and Pietro Tonini will present the FoodE project (Food Systems in European Cities), a European research initiative that aims to promote sustainable food initiatives and extend local, traditional, organic and sustainable agriculture.
