Catalan edition published of the book on circular economy for a more sustainable future
Joan Rieradevall and Carles Gasol, researchers affiliated with ICTA-UAB, recently published the Catalan edition of the book Economia circular. Camí cap a la sostenibilitat, published by the UAB Publishing Service. The book offers a rigorous and accessible analysis of circular economies as a key strategy in in achieving more sustainable production and consumption models. The book is available in paper and also in a free and open online version.
In a context where 7.2% of products and services operate with circular systems, the circular economy is presented as a necessary phenomenon for sustainable development. Based on the analysis of political, economic, social and environmental factors, the book raises the question of whether this criterion is a reality, or simply a short-term desire of society.
Based on the observation of policies, indicators, circular eco-design tools, innovation strategies, prevention and resource minimisation, the work shows the possible global improvement of existing products and services. From the production of the criteria to its final result, a growing and continuous circular and sustainable future is projected, as well as the achievement of more efficient and resilient consumption in the coming years.
