URBAG Workshop: ‘Agricultural Perspectives in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona’

Date: Friday, November 25th 2022
Time: From 9.30 to 14h
Venue: Sala Antoni Rosell (Z/022 and Z/023) ICTA-UAB

Background
In the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, we observe two contradicting developments regarding urban agriculture that reflect a current global trend: while urban gardening is on vogue and supported by municipal actions, over the past decades the agricultural land has been reduced from 20% to 8-9% of the AMB surface.

Objectives
This co-creation workshop will bring together a broad variety of stakeholders in urban agriculture, including the private sector, governance bodies across different scales, NGOs and academia to discuss

(a) what are desired and feasible future scenarios for urban agriculture in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area,

(b) which are the pathways to alter the decline and to increase urban agriculture and to overcome current obstacles.
