Speaker: Esteve Corbera¿¿, ICTA-UAB
Date: Monday, April 8th 2019
Time: 15h
Room: Room Z/022
This talk will present and critically interpret one of the largest initiatives of global forest governance and an attempt to commodify emission reductions from deforestation: the so-called REDD+ framework under the UN Convention on Climate Change. The talk will briefly review the history and evolution of REDD+ (both conceptually and in operational terms) and present contrasting evidence of REDD+ pilot projects. A 20-min documentary will be used to guide a discussion towards the end of the lecture.
