The REAL-Postgrowth project (Post-growth – REAL – A Post-Growth Deal) is excited to announce the seminar "Palestine as a feminist issue" with Adriana Qubaiova. It can also be followed online.

Title: "Palestine as a feminist issue" *

Speaker: Adriana Qubaiova, Visiting Professor at Central European University

* Trigger warning: mentions of rape, sexual violence, and genocide.

In this teach-in I show how and why Palestine is an issue of central relevance to feminist politics today, and what a feminist perspective illuminates about Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians. I will argue that a feminist lens allows us to see that Israel’s genocide against Palestinians is not new, but rather an accelerated mode of biopolitical violence. I will further show how a feminist perspective helps us understand Israel’s genocide in gendered, racialized and sexual terms, by reviewing Israel’s homonationalist politics, its instrumentalization of rape as a form of sexual violence, and its long-term reproductive violence against Palestinians, all amidst an intensification of ecocide, urbicide, and scholasticide.

Adriana Ahmad Qubaiova is a feminist scholar of gender and sexuality in West Asia, holding a PhD in Comparative Gender Studies from Central European University. She bridges Gender and Sexuality Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, and Queer Anthropology in her research and teaching. Adriana is currently a Visiting Professor at CEU's Gender Studies Department until 2027.
