Doctor Jane Goodall is the kind of distinguished personality that humanity generates very rarely. The celebrated British primatologist is known for her revolutionary studies among the wild chimpanzees of the Tanzanian rainforests which led to her redefining our species and changing the view Homo sapiens had of themselves. Her scientific and conservation work has been internationally acknowledged with numerous awards and distinctions, including the 2003 Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific Research, the title of United Nations Messenger of Peace, and Honoris causa degrees from more than forty universities around the world. Doctor Jane Goodall travels 300 days per year spreading her message of hope all around the world. The next stop in her trip is Barcelona, where she will be from the 3rd to the 10th May to celebrate the Global Meeting of the Jane Goodall Institute around the world. The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI, www.janegoodall.es) has chosen the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) as the platform for her visit, and the Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals (ICTA) has been closely collaborating to make this exceptional visit of Dr. Goodall to the UAB possible. Jane Goodall, with her deep scientific vision, bases her discourse on what she calls ¿Reasons for Hope¿, a compendium of rigorous arguments against pessimism, which she transmits as no one else could.
