Abstract
Relying on chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other technical means, agricultural output has been increased, but followed by many externality problems, such as food security, health risk, environmental pollution and disruption of ecological balance. The new rice-turtle comprehensive symbolic agricultural system in Deqing, Zhejiang province has achieved good effect. On the one hand, the farmers have realized a win-win situation on the high output of fish and rice without using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, obtaining good economic benefits. On the other hand, the externality problems of food security, non-point pollution has been cured without interfering the natural rules. The balance of farmland ecosystem has also been recovered. The promotion of the rice-turtle symbolic agricultural system model, or the wisdom and basic ideas of this model, will expand positive externality, promoting agricultural sustainable development. The exploring of rice-turtle comprehensive symbiotic agriculture prided us the road to modern agricultural development, combined with local tradition and modern technology, which was efficient, safe and towards the harmony of human and nature.
Key words: comprehensive agriculture; rice-turtle symbolic agriculture; non-point pollution; food security; grain security
