Fifty years after the death of Francisco Franco, the Centre for the Study of Dictatorships and Democracies (CEDID-UAB) is co-organising, together with other Spanish and French universities and the Francisco Largo Caballero Foundation, the international symposium on “Radiography of Anti-Francoism in Spain and France. Dit-Dit: artistic practice of the CondeGalí collective within the European project APTITUDE-PROXI
Description:
As part of the activities of the European project APTITUDE-PROXI (which has the support of the UAB Health and Ageing Foundation) to strengthen the prevention of dependency in the elderly, on 24 November Badalona will host an artistic practice called Dit-Dit and organised by the CondeGalí group, in collaboration with Nilak. The activity is aimed at the participants of the pilot programme, and health professionals who are participating in the project are also invited. The event will take place at the l'Escorxador Cultural Centre, a space that has been provided by the Badalona City Council to carry out this activity.
Aimar Pérez, dancer, choreographer and co-director of the CondeGalí group, explains that Dit-Dit is a practice designed so that participants can enjoy the movement of the body in a safe and judgment-free space with the support of a team of dancers and teachers who accompany, amplify and guide the participants' movement proposals. As he highlights, "touch is the point of support and anchorage from where we begin the practice to explore the freedom of movement. Each one using their capacities, desires and needs, and accompanied by a live pianist who opens up the imagination of expression and activates our recollection and memory."
This proposal aims to bring art and culture closer to older people, reinforcing the social and community dimension of prevention. The combination of movement and music makes Dit-Dit an activity that provides health benefits on many levels. Júlia Ferrés, occupational therapist and researcher at the UAB Health and Ageing Foundation who leads APTITUDE-PROXI, explains that "music and movement stimulate attention and memory, improve balance and strengthen social connection when practiced in a group. Carrying out these activities in community spaces is an effective way to promote active and healthy ageing outside of the healthcare environment."
