Researchers from ICTA-UAB ad IMIM are conducting a research on the role of plants in private homes and gardens during the COVID-19 lockdown, with the aim of studying their benefits and analysing social consequences due to an inequality in these elements.

Researchers from the group Barcelona Laboratory for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability (BCNUEJ), a mixed laboratory by the ICTA-UAB and the IMIM, are conducting a study on the role residential green (interior plants and plants found on balconies and terraces, rooftop gardens and private backyards) during the lockdown and isolation ordered in Spain after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

Coordinated by ICTA-UAB researcher Francesc Baró, the scientists consider that the study will help to improve the understanding of the benefits of residential greenery during a period of massive isolation, as well as the potential social consequences at the level of wellbeing and physical and mental health due to inequalities in the access to these spaces or green elements.

To conduct the study, researchers have set up a survey for those interested in participating. The survey can be completed in about 8 minutes, and all information is confidential and anonymous. All information will be used for scientific research and will in no way be used for commercial purposes.
