Language courses for teaching staff

Face-to-face classes and online classes to cover specific needs related to teaching and academic research.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, we would like to highlight the following courses:

==> English courses

English for Teaching Purposes (MOOC): this is a course to prepare university teaching staff to be able to teach subjects in English. This year, once the course has been completed, learners will need to have one of their classes observed and attend a final tutorial session, in order to put everything they have learned into practice.

English Conversation for Lecturers: conversation sessions in English which allow learners to gain fluency and learn how to use oral language correctly.

==> Catalan courses

Intermediate (B2) and Advanced (C1) are in-person courses to accredit your language level.  

Advanced Exam Preparation for PDI Staff is a very short course that prepares lecturers and professors to pass the officially recognised interuniversity advanced level Catalan exam (level C1 of the CEFRL).

Additionally, all Catalan courses, from beginner to Proficiency level (C2) are 100% subsidised for UAB academic staff.  

==> Exam sittings

Training academic staff to teach in English (January 2027): exam sitting for academic staff interested in accrediting their ability to teach in English at university.

Enrolment open from 9 December onwards

==> Call for discounts/ financial support

Financial support for language-learning available to UAB teaching staff (2026): discounts to improve language competence among UAB academic staff members. Call for lecturers who have completed and passed a language course during the 2025-2026 academic year.
