CEFID organises a symposium on the Spanish Transition

On 24 and 25 November at 10 a.m. the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts will host a symposium entitled “Catalunya: Transició i Democràcia. Política i Cultura (1975-2005)" (Catalonia: Transition and Democracy. Politics and Culture 1975-2005). The session is organised by the Centre for Studies on the Franco and Democratic Eras (CEFID) of the UAB and will offer a series of conferences and debates on the Spanish transition.
On the first day, an initial conference on Catalonia, entitled “Una nació sense Estat, un poble sense llengua: la llengua i la cultura a la sortida del franquisme”, will be given by Víctor Martínez, professor of the UAB Department of Catalan Studies. Following, Paola Lo Cascio, professor of the UB Department of Contemporary History, will speak on the years under Catalonia's former president Jordi Pujol in “El pujolisme i les seves dimensions política i civil”. The session will continue with a conference on Spanish Republican exiles in “Memòries republicanes i de l’exili: discursos, oblits i recuperacions”, given by Maria Campillo, professor of the UAB Department of Catalan Studies.
The second day will take place at the auditorium (Sala d'Actes) of the faculty, with a conference entitled “La qüestió nacional catalana i la Constitució: el “problema catalán” en la democràcia espanyola (1978-2010)”, offered by Marc Carrillo, professor of the UPF Department of Law. This one will be followed by another conference on left-wing parties entitled “Les esquerres catalanes: changes 21st century”, by Joan Botella, professor of the UAB Department of Political Science and Public Law and Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology.
