Investiga.edu, a programme to bring archaeology closer to rural schools, to hold its final meeting at the UAB

On Friday 6 June the UAB will play host to the closing event of the project Investiga.edu, an educational proposal which for four years made it possible to bring science and research into archaeology, palaeontology and geology closer to primary and secondary schools located in rural and mountaineous areas, particularly in the Pyrenees and pre-Pyrenees regions. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Periodicals Room of the Humanities Library.

The end-of-project event will bring together representatives of the educational centres and collaborating entities that have participated in the project. The meeting is designed as a day of dynamic conversations and a guided tour to bring the attendees closer to the spaces where research is carried out. Thus, the event will include an institutional welcome, spaces for conversation and reflection on the shared experiences, and a visit to the archaeology laboratories of the University.
The event will not only serve to highlight the work done during the four years of the project, but also to recognise the effort, creativity and interest of all the people involved: students, teachers, local entities and individuals, and the research team. In addition, it aims to become a space to continue weaving complicities between the University and the educational community of the territory.
Investiga.edu is an educational innovation project to connect students with research through the reality of their own surroundings. The programme is based on the development of school research projects around archaeological and palaeontological sites of proximity, with methodologies adapted to all educational stages, from kindergarten to high school. The project, carried out by a research team from the Department of Prehistory of the UAB, has been an initiative of the CORE network in Cultural Heritage of the UAB, which has taken the programme to the sites of the UAB Archaeology and Palaeontology Campus: the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, Castellot de Bolvir, La Noguera, Coll de Nargó and the Natural Park of the Serra de Montsant.
With the event that ends the programme, the UAB reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge and networking with the areas that are often left out of the large educational and scientific circuits.
The event is open to everyone, but it is necessary to register in advance.
