Lecturers

Dr Marta Arumí Ribas
With a PhD in Translating and Interpreting from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, her main areas of research are conference interpreting didactics and public service interpreting. Since 2009 Marta has been head of the MIRAS Research Group in the UAB's Department of Translation, Interpreting and East Asian Studies. 
She has been teaching interpreting at the UAB since 2007 to undergraduates and Master's students.
Interpreter for the European institutions Joint Conference Interpreting Service (SCIC) (1998-2000). Interpreter for the Spanish Senate since 2005. Interpreter at national and international congresses (such as the Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004 and the World AIDS Conference), as well as for companies, institutions and organisations such as TV3 and Canal 33, Seat, Barcelona City Council, and others.

Guiomar Stampa
Freelance conference interpreter for, among others: European Parliament (committee meetings in Brussels and monthly plenary sessions in Strasbourg), Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004, EU Intellectual Property Organisation (EUIPO) in Alicante, UNESCO Office in Catalonia, Expo Zaragoza 2008, IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature), Spanish Presidency of the European Union 2010, as well as various public bodies and private companies in Barcelona.
Organiser of interpreting teams for EUIPO, Spanish Presidency of the EU 2010, EXPOAGUA ZARAGOZA 2008 SA. Member of AIIC and AIB.
Guiomar has been an associate professor at the UAB since 1994, where she teaches interpreting to undergraduates and Master's students. She is also the International Institutions Relations Coordinator and coordinates interpreting work experience at the FTI.

Pilar García Crecente
Conference interpreter accredited by the European Union since 1989. Committees, political groupings and plenary sessions of the European Parliament as well as missions outside headquarters and meetings of the European Commission in Luxembourg.
Freelance interpreter on the private market for institutional clients and private companies in all fields: politics, economy and finance, law, health, education, culture and sport, etc. She has interpreted at numerous events, including: Olympic Games Barcelona 1992, Forum 2004, Expo Zaragoza 2008 (contract awarded to AIB), Spanish Presidency of the EU 2010 (contract awarded to AIB), Banc Sabadell, Banco Mediolanum, ILO, EUROJUST, EMSA, EUIPO, International Association of Educating Cities, EDUCO, Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, Committee of the Regions, International Union of Architects, Barcelona City Council. Member of AIIC and AIB.
Pilar has been an associate professor at the UAB since 2005, where she teaches interpreting to undergraduates and Master's students.

Susagna Guardiola
Degree in Translating and Interpreting from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.  Master's in Conference Interpreting from the Universitat de Vic and the University of Salford (UK). Susagna has been working as a professional interpreter since 2000. She has worked for political institutions (Regional Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council); cultural bodies (CCCB, IEMED, Institut Ramon Llull, Institut del Teatre, Teatre Lliure); universities (UAB, UOC, University of Girona); professional associations (of architects, lawyers), and private companies.
Susagna has been an associate professor at the UAB since 2004, where she teaches interpreting to undergraduates and Master's students.

Maria Pearce
Conference interpreter since 2003, accredited by the European Union since 2004.
Freelance interpreter on the private market for institutional clients and private companies in all areas: medicine, politics, economy and finance, law, health, education, culture and sport, specialising in the scientific/technical sector. She has interpreted at numerous events, including: Forum 2004, Expo Zaragoza 2008 (contract awarded to AIB), Spanish Presidency EU 2010 (contract awarded to AIB), and for clients and organisations such as Bayer, Astellas, Novo Nordisk, Stryker, Nestle, GSK, Chiesi, Camlog, FAO, Council of Europe, WHO, UEFA, ITU, Banc Sabadell, Deutsche Bank, ING, AGBAR, SEAT, EUROJUST, EUROPOL, EUIPO, Abertis, Barcelona City Council, US Chamber of Commerce, and EU audits. Catherine Sherry
Conference interpreter since 2003, accredited by the United Nations since 2014.
Freelance interpreter on the private market for institutional clients and private companies in all areas: politics, economy and finance, law, health, education, culture and sport, etc. She has interpreted at numerous events, including: Forum 2004, Expo Zaragoza 2008 (contract awarded to AIB), Spanish Presidency EU 2010 (contract awarded to AIB), UNEP, FAO, WFP, WHO, Banc Sabadell, Banco Santander, Deutsche Bank, African Development Bank, EUROJUST, EUIPO, International Association of Educating Cities, EDUCO, Consumer Goods Forum, Barcelona City Council, etc. Member of AIIC and AIB.
Catherine has been an associate professor at the UAB since 2015, where she teaches interpreting to undergraduates and Master's students.

Frederic Rovira
Graduate in Communication Sciences by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He has been working as a professional interpreter since 1998 for institutions (Generalitat de Catalunya, Parliament, Provincial Government), as well as in the education and cultural field (universities and museums), sports (FCB, INEF), professional associations and private companies. As a freelance interpreter, he has worked in many conferences on politics, economics, law, health, education, culture and sports. Specialised in training sessions in technical and commercial events, in particular in the fashion markets.
Co-founding member of APTIC (2008). Associate professor of UAB since 2009 where he is currently teaching Degree and Master courses.
