Master description
The curriculum of the program is structured as follows:
Regarding the compulsory subjects common to all specializations, excluding the Master's Degree Dissertation, there is one in the first semester, one annual, and one in the second semester. The first course, "Interdisciplinary Concepts of Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability: Theory and Practice of Interdisciplinarity", deals with inter- and transdisciplinary work methodologies; the second one, "Interdisciplinary Concepts of Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability: Interdisciplinary Project" , consists of a project to apply this knowledge; and the third one, Interdisciplinary Concepts of Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability: Scientific Communication and Dissemination, focuses on scientific communication and dissemination, allowing its application in the "Interdisciplinary Project" course and in the Master's Degree Dissertation. The rest of the first semester includes the two compulsory specialization subjects (which, depending on the chosen specialization, will be "Industrial Ecology" and "Waste Management", "Global Change" and "Analysis and Management of Natural Landscapes" or "Foundations of Ecological Economics" and "Political Ecology", and one elective (to be chosen from three). The three electives offered in the first semester ("Geographical Information Systems ", "Qualitative Methods for Research in Social Sciences" and "Environmental Law: Essential Foundations for Professionals" are the most methodological and fundamental of the master’s program.
In the second semester, excluding the common compulsory subjects already mentioned, most of the program’s electives are concentrated, where the student selects three subjects from the nine available "Corporate Social Responsibility: Company Sustainability Report", "Sustainable Transport and Mobility Policies", "Urban Ecology", "Climate Change", "Biocultural Diversity", "Water Management", "Tools for Analysing the Metabolism of Societies", "Strategies for Mitigation and Adaptation to Global Change" and "Work Placement". The Master's Degree Dissertation is also carried out.
