POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER - SOCIETAL CHALLENGE POLICIES (2021DILEUA28)

PoliciesSalary: € 28,000-32,000, depending on experience and skills. Vacation days, parental leave and medical coverage included (according to the Spanish employment regulation and social security system).

Contract duration: 2 years, Full-time position.


Job description

ICTA-UAB is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to develop a research project related to the Societal Challenge POLICIES, which aims to analyze and advocate for effective and equitable cross-scale policies, institutions and social responses to address global environmental change. The postdoctoral researcher will work in collaboration with the theme leaders (Giorgos Kallis, Jeroen van den Bergh) and is expected to create connections between existing research lines of senior members of the research teams involved in the challenge.
 

Job responsibilities

The post-doctoral fellow will undertake research on policies for, and politics of, climate change, with a particular focus on:

  • The mix of policy instruments to achieve deep decarbonization and social policies at different scales
  • Strategies to improve harmonization of national climate policies and the role of the Paris Agreement or the Sustainable Development Goals in this respect
  • Evaluation of Green New Deals worldwide with regards to environmental effectiveness and socially justice
  • The social processes that lead to relevant political and policy change.

 

Qualification and skills

The ideal candidate will have training in an environment-related field (e.g., Environmental science, Political science, Geography, History) in at least one of the three degrees.

Required skills: Knowledge of programming, high level of English in writing and speaking.

Desirable skills: use of statistical or other analytical software appreciated but not required, excellent publication record as appropriate for the career stage (with first author publications in reputable journals)

Valuable working experience: Not necessary, but valued positively if in a field relevant to the call
