Visits to ICTA-UAB
The Institute of Environmental Science and Technology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) receives a high number of visit requests every year from universities, schools, public administrations, companies, and other institutions interested in both the scientific activity conducted here and the architectural features of the building, which is internationally recognized for its sustainability standards.
In order to guarantee efficient management of visits and to minimize interference with the routine operation of the institute, ICTA-UAB has established an organized and centralized visit system, coordinated by the ICTA-UAB Visits Committee. This committee is composed of members of the ICTA-UAB community who, on a voluntary basis, collaborate in organizing and conducting visits as part of the institute's commitment to scientific outreach and institutional visibility.
Guided tours are generally offered on the last Friday of every month, subject to availability and the ordinary activity of the institute.
For organizational reasons, requests must be submitted at least three weeks in advance. Requests received outside this period cannot be guaranteed.
Given the high volume of requests, submitting a request does not imply automatic acceptance of the visit. ICTA-UAB reserves the right to accept, reschedule, or deny any request based on staff availability and the operational needs of the center.
ICTA-UAB offers different types of visits:
- General building tour, including an introduction to the institute's mission, main research lines, and the sustainability features of the building.
Duration of the visit: 1 hour
Group size: up to 20 people
- Specific visits, focused on particular facilities or topics, such as the building's architectural features, the urban agriculture laboratories managed by the Sostenipra group, or the service laboratories managed by various research groups such as MERS, EARLY-FOODS, and Sostenipra. The content and duration of the specific visit will be defined based on the group's profile, their interests, and the availability of spaces and institute personnel.
In order to properly process your request, it will be necessary to provide the following information through the visits form:
- Full name of the person responsible
- Contact email address
- Entity or institution
- Profile of the visiting group
- Requested visit date (indicate which last Friday of the month)
- Total number of participants
- Preferred language for the visit
- Requested type of visit
- Motivation or objectives of the visit
- Other observations or requirements
- How did you hear about ICTA-UAB
Once the visit is accepted, a full list of all attendees will be required for organizational and security reasons.
ICTA-UAB is, above all, a space for work and research. For this reason, all visitors agree to:
- Follow the instructions of the staff responsible for the visit at all times.
- Respect safety rules and access restrictions to spaces.
- Maintain respectful behavior appropriate to an academic and professional environment.
- Avoid any action that could interfere with research, laboratory, or administrative work activities.
- Not enter restricted areas without express authorization.
ICTA-UAB reserves the right to interrupt the visit if these rules are not met.

Requests will be reviewed by the Visits Committee and the response will be sent by email from the official ICTA-UAB address as soon as possible.
Visits to ICTA-UAB constitute an opportunity to share the research and innovation developed at the institute with society, as well as to showcase a pioneer building in sustainability.
