The UAB ranks among the world's top 200 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings

Once again, the UAB has improved its results in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) for 2027. It climbs eight places compared to last year, reaching the 175th position. The UAB is consolidating a trend of continuous improvement that began in 2023. In total, the ranking features 2,297 universities from around the world—one hundred more than in the previous edition.

In this year's edition of the ranking, UAB also improves its score, obtaining 61.1% in the 2027 edition (59.8% in 2026 and 58.7% in 2025). The UAB achieves its best score in these three areas: research quality (citations, excellence and leadership), 85.5%; industry and commerce resources (private funding and patents), 75.5%; and international outlook (foreign staff and students, international co-authorship), 68.2%. The UAB improves its score in almost all areas, with a notable improvement in the research environment (reputation, productivity and research income), where it rises from 44.8% to 47.3%.

Among the Catalan universities ranked in the global top 200 in the previous edition, the UAB is the one that has climbed the most places. Regarding the overall results, a total of 56 Spanish universities appear in the ranking, and the University of Oxford tops the global list for the eleventh consecutive year.

The World Universities Rankings is a benchmark ranking compiled by the magazine Times Higher Education, which analyses higher education institutions based on 18 performance indicators grouped into five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
