What is beauty? Is it a gift of nature, a personal choice or a social obligation? Is it important in the world we live in? Sandra Gonfaus, graduate in Communication and Cultural Industries (UB), Master in Gender and Communication (UAB) and working member of the Trama cooperative, will give a session on how aesthetic violence and fatophobia are represented in the media. As a woman traversed by fatness, she is an activist and also teaches workshops and researches on the intersection between gender, grassophobia and aesthetic violence. Based on our own experiences, the analysis of images and audiovisual pieces we will reflect on the aesthetic violence and the grassophobia that surrounds us and how it oppresses us, especially women and dissident genres.

The session will take place next Monday, March 18 at 6pm in classroom 5 of the Faculty of Communication.
