Tribute to retired staff, goodbye to a whole generation

The tribute to the retirees and emeritus staff of the faculty took place on October 10 around 17:30 h, in the Aula Magna. It began immediately after the inaugural lesson with emotional words from the dean of the faculty, Mª José Recoder.

Mª José Recoder began her speech remembering that in 2021 the faculty will turn 50 and she wanted to acknowledge, institutionally, the important role of teachers in the growth of the faculty.

The Vice Chancellor of Communication and Promotion, Virginia Luzon, intervened to make it clear that "the university is losing a generation, a significant loss of capital" but, surely the professionals who leave will continue to create and work.

The Dean also stressed that the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the UAB "is the largest in Catalonia and over the years it has become a center with its feet in Catalonia but with an international horizon."

The Vice-Dean of Teaching, Faculty and Students of the faculty, Carmina Crusafon, was in charge of presenting the honored personnel: Juan Maldonado, Norminanda Montoya, Santiago Ramentol, Ángel Rodríguez, Teresa Velázquez and Antoni Vidal who were gifted with a lithography of the faculty as a remembrance. The teachers who couldn’t attend the event were also remembered: Marcial Murciano, Miguel Enrique Pérez Quintanilla, Carmen Linares and Daniel Tena.

Finally, the academic year was officially inaugurated inviting those present to a glass of cava in the meeting room of the deanery.
