Entertainment platforms have become the gateway to the internet and the only one familiar to the youngest audiences. In this context, journalists are forces to innovate in format, channal and language if they want to stand our in an algorithmic ecosystem dominated by millions of content creators.

Can we make information visible in the era of Netflix, Disney, Twitch and TikTok? What role do traditional media channels play in this scenario? The new challenge facing journalism is to make the most entertained society in history also be an informed society.

The event, entitled "Periodisme a l'era de l'entreteniment" [Journalism in the Entertainment Era] will take place on Wednesday 21 September 2022 at 10 a.m. at the CaixaForum Macaya in Barcelona.

Marc Basté, editor of the online newspaper NacióDigital, will be in charge of presenting the event, which will also include a conference by Eduardo Suárez, journalist and editorial director of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University.

Following the conference, Media Economics lecturer at the UAB Albert Salord will moderate a round table with Roser Toll, UAB journalist alumnus and contributor to The New York Times and Univision in Spain; Mar Manrique, journalist and editor of the Fleet Streetnewsletter; and Eduardo Suárez, journalist and editorial director of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University.
