The Faculty of Law at UAB was present in Italy this past weekend at an international gathering that brought together academics around law, history, art, and culture. Within the framework of the conference “Da Emporion a Yele: un viaggio tra patrimonio culturale, arte e diritto”, held at the Complesso Alario in Ascea (Salerno), our professors and researchers shared reflections that connect past and present, strengthening academic and cultural ties between Spain and Italy.

Last Saturday, our professors and researchers traveled to Italy to participate in a unique international conference: “Da Emporion a Yele: un viaggio tra patrimonio culturale, arte e diritto”, held at the Complesso Alario (Ascea, Salerno).
In a dialogue between history, culture, law, and art, our representatives presented research that bridges past and present—from Spanish emigration to the Americas to humor in law, as well as cultural memory and Mediterranean cuisine.
The UAB Faculty of Law professors who took part were:
- Iván Aybar – Art and History of Law: the Lutheran Reformation and the pictorial work of Lucas Cranach the Elder.
- Daniel Gamper – Humor and freedom of expression.
- Santiago Robert Guillén – Copyright and haute cuisine: reflections from the Mediterranean diet.
- Josep Cañabate-Pérez – The illegal emigration of Spaniards and Italians to the Americas at the beginning of the 20th century.
- Laura Cappuccio – Memory and cultural heritage in Spain.
- Montserrat Solé Truyols – From 40 to 32 hours: is working time reduction possible? A comparison between Italy and Spain.
- Stefania Giombini – The condition of women in archaic legislation.
- Olga Paz Torres – Women and the labor world in the 20th century: professional opportunities in the Second Republic and under Francoism.
An academic and cultural journey that strengthens ties between Italy and Spain, and places our faculty at the heart of major debates on law, heritage, and society.
