The course "Introduction to Classical Tibetan Language: Deeper Insight into Syntax and Text Reading (Tibetan III)" is focused on training students to understand the textual sources of Tibetan Buddhism in its original language, using selected fragments from its classical works.
The course is aimed at individuals who already possess the necessary knowledge to read and pronounce the Tibetan script, as well as basic knowledge of classical Tibetan language grammar (grammatical connectors, syntax, vocabulary, etc.).
This program combines an in-depth study of grammatical elements with the development of skills in text comprehension and translation, alongside knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism, which is essential for understanding the texts and their context.
In this course, students will have access to high-quality educational resources, such as specialized materials and a teaching approach that encourages both theoretical and practical learning. The UAB has excellent academic and technological infrastructures, including virtual platforms to facilitate online learning and interaction between students and professors. Furthermore, active participation in research and analysis activities that enrich the educational experience is highly encouraged.
The training offered in this course not only develops advanced language skills but also provides students with the analytical tools needed to understand and work with highly complex Tibetan texts. This makes it an ideal choice for those seeking to specialize in Buddhist studies, classical text translation, or academic research on Tibet and its cultural legacy.
