Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE)
The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) is an international non-profit association, founded in 2004 at the University of Korea in Seoul, which brings together university representatives from thirteen countries or regions of the Asia-Pacific.
They organize one of the most important university fairs in the world and the main one in Asia, which brings together thousands of professionals passionate about international education from all over the world to the Asia-Pacific region to network, improve professional skills and learn about new developments in international education.
The Catalan delegation, of which the UAB is a part, offers a reception every year for alumni of Catalan universities.
The Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) and the Catalan government participated in the annual conference of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) from March 25 to 29, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
The ACUP universities, including the UAB, and the Government of Catalonia, with the aim of promoting the internationalization of the Catalan university and research system, announced at this fair their offer of higher studies to the Asian market under the brand Study in Catalonia. And they organized a reception for alumni from the area, including Amira Sa'abana, UAB alumni.
The theme of this edition was "Diversity and Inclusion of Higher Education in Asia-Pacific".
The Study in Catalonia delegation was present, for the sixth consecutive year, at the Asia Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) fair, with the participation of different alumni from Catalan universities, including the UAB. The APAIE took place at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on March 26, 2018. The fair had more than 200 stands and more than 1,500 delegates from all over the world and included conferences, workshops, exhibitions, networking events and visits to local universities .
The Study in Catalonia stand. Welcome to the Universities of Catalonia at the show made available to visitors different publications and documentation in English and Chinese from Catalan universities, as well as information on how to study in Catalonia, the master's programs and university conversation guides, among others. Representing the Catalan university system, seven universities were present in addition to the representatives of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia and Casa Asia.
Apart from the presence at the fair, the Catalan delegation offered a reception and a networking session attended by around a hundred people and where alumni from Catalan universities that currently live and work in Singapore participated. Present were Pia Moret, head of the Office of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia and, on behalf of the UAB, Màrius Martínez, vice-rector for International Relations at the UAB and Marta Vilalta, director of the UAB's area of international relations
Intervened, among other people, the doctor of Medicine Alba Vilajeliu, a graduate in Medicine and a doctorate from the University of Barcelona, Master in Public Health from the Pompeu Fabra University and Diploma in Research Methodology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Vilajeliu is a specialist in public health and works as a consultant for the World Health Organization in the field of maternal and child health, and spoke, among others, of the comprehensive training offered by Catalan universities.
