The revolutionary potential of a caring democracy
Description:
Joan C. Tronto, emeritus professor of the City University of New York and the University of Minnesota, and one of the greatest exponents of the ethics of care and democracy, will visit the UAB and offer a conference at the Rectorat building on 10 October at 4 p.m. The conference will be open to all members of the UAB community. Organised by the UAB Department of Philosophy, the conference is entitled "El potencial revolucionario de una democracia del cuidado" and will focus on the revolutionary potential of a care democracy.
In her books Moral Boundaries, Caring Democracy and Who cares?, Tronto details a conceptual approach to care. Her ideas have inspired sectors such as nursing and the processes of humanising health, as well as ethics, sociology and the study of sex division in the workplace, economics, political sciences, and in the art and architectural world, as well as other areas.

Opening of the academic year 2024-2025

The opening of the academic year 2024-2025 is celebrated. Dr. Miguel Angel Presno Linera, professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo, will give the inaugural lesson with the title "El Derecho a la Inteligencia Artificial", which will be presented by the dean of the Faculty of Law, Susana Navas.

The reform of the working day and control systems
Description:
Organized within the framework of the UAB Alumni Network of Labour Relations, in the session we will analyze the reform, if it has already been carried out, or its preparatory documents such as, for example, the draft bill for the reduction of the maximum duration of the ordinary working day.
The moderation will be given by Dr. Xavier Solà, Professor of Labour and Social Security Law.
The session will end with a networking around an apperitive.
